Under Sabrier’s leadership, Unigestion was a pioneer in the area of Alternative Investments with activities in the Hedge Fund and Private Equity arenas for over 25 years. More recently, he has guided the company out of its private banking activities to focus more exclusively on asset management. He has also supported the firm’s expansion into the area of active risk-managed Equities and Multi Asset, as well as Private Equity, through the 2017 acquisition of Akina.

Sabrier established the Famsa Foundation in 2011, a non-profit organisation that contributes to a number of projects in the charitable, educational, cultural and medical fields. He is also the Founder and President of Children Action, a charitable foundation for disadvantaged children throughout the world.

Sabrier took control of Unigestion in 1976 and, with a strategic vision for the company, he has successfully directed its growth into the respected institutional asset manager that it is today. He successfully engineered a number of acquisitions and divestitures that contributed to the company’s growth, most notably, majority holdings in Banca della Svizzera Italiana and Banque Unigestion, in Switzerland, as well as a significant minority position in Banque OBC, France.

Sabrier started his career in finance working at Paribas in Geneva from 1972 to 1974. He then worked at Renault Finance from 1975 to 1976, where he focused on fixed income and foreign currency investments.

Bernard Sabrier, born on 12 February 1953, is a Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is currently the Chairman of Unigestion, a Geneva-based independent, specialist asset manager with USD 23.2bn in AUM (as at 31.12.2018).
