On October 2016, Bruno Covas was elected vice-mayor of São Paulo, along with João Doria. On early April 2018, Covas took office as Mayor after the resignation of João Doria, who ran for Governor of the surrounding larger State of São Paulo.
In 2015, was sub-rapporteur of the Mixed Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry of Petrobras (CPMI da Petrobras) and member of the Special Committee of Criminal Majority.
Was elected federal deputy in 2014 for the 55th Legislature (2015-2019). Voted "Yes" for the opening of the process of impeachment of Dilma Rousseff. While in the government of President Michel Temer, voted "Yes" of the Bill of the "Ceiling" of Public Spendings.
