Timeline
† As Owen was a guest driver, he was ineligible for championship points.
In early 2018, the FIA-sanctioned F3 Asian Championship was formed. Soon after the announcement, Owen negotiated a team-entry from the championship-promoter and formed a team under the name "Chase Owen Racing" to compete in the inaugural season of the 2018 F3 Asian Championship. As team-principal, Owen also took on a role as team-driver alongside the Chinese driver James Yu.
Owen simultaneously competed in the 2016 Avon Tyres Northern Formula Ford Championship (1st overall) along with the 2016 Avon Tyres National Formula Ford Championship (2nd overall) with Cliff Dempsey Racing. Owen also entered the 2016 Formula Ford Festival (6th overall) and also picked up the "Star of Anglesey" and the "Champion of Oulton Park" accolades.
In December 2016, Owen signed with the "Hillspeed with Cliff Dempsey Racing" team (after a merger between Cliff Dempsey Racing and Hillspeed Racing's F3 team) to compete in the 2017 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship alongside teammate Jordan Cane. However, Cane's early-season departure from the team left Owen without a teammate, and he struggled to find pace in the highly-competitive field of drivers. Owen ended the season 7th in the championship, with a best-finish of 2nd-place at Donington Park.
Owen received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin in 2015.
While competing in the 2015 Skip Barber Summer Series, Owen was nominated for the Team USA Scholarship. Although a finalist, Owen was not chosen as one of the two recipients of the scholarship that year. However, through the Team USA program, Owen was introduced to Cliff Dempsey of "Cliff Dempsey Racing" in the UK. Owen eventually joined Dempsey's Irish FF1600 racing team in 2016.
Chase Owen (born April 10, 1992) is an American race car driver, team-owner, and entrepreneur. Born in Houston, Texas, Owen is best known for his successful open-wheel racing career in America, Europe, and Asia. His rapid progression in international motor racing began in late 2014, after winning Skip Barber Racing School's Indy Car Academy Shootout with no prior racing experience. He was awarded with a full season in the 2015 Skip Barber Summer Series Championship (where he finished 2nd overall after winning 8 races) and RACER Magazine's "Top Gun Award." Owen went on to be nominated for the Team USA Scholarship and raced FF1600's for Cliff Dempsey Racing in 2016, where he won the Avon Tyres Northern Championship, placed 2nd in the Avon Tyres National Championship, 6th in the Formula Ford Festival, and was crowned the "Star of Anglesey" and "Champion of Oulton Park." Later, after finishing 7th in the 2017 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship, Owen launched his own Formula 3 motor racing team (named "Chase Owen Racing") and entered into the 2018 F3 Asian Championship. In doing so, Owen became among the youngest FIA-sanctioned team-owner/team-driver's in the sport at age 25. Owen was also named one of the top-6 American racers ever to have competed in Formula Ford 1600.
