David Mendez is founder of Monterrey Pictures Entertainment. He also is President/COO of a photography media company, MAP LLC, which he co-founded in 2009.
A former technology entrepreneur and venture capitalist, he entered the film industry in 2007 as producer and co-writer of 700 Hill.
After leaving Katalyst in 2002, David worked as an independent advisor and executive consultant to many companies in New York and California in the technology, media, and consumer products industries. David has lived internationally in London, Belgium and Madrid. Outside of producing, he is committed to contributing to community, education and the arts.
inc was sold to i2 Technologies in 2000 for over $300 million. After the acquisition, David moved to New York to open the New York office of Katalyst Venture Partners, a Philadelphia-based venture capital and consulting firm, which focused on media, cable, and business services investments.
In 1996, he co-founded Supplybase. inc, a supply chain management software company, and raised funding through venture capital firms including NEA (New Enterprise Associates) and Red Rock Ventures. Supplybase.
After obtaining his MBA, David joined the General Electric Company, and managed sales distribution of plastic resins in the Northern California region, where he was awarded MVP of Sales in 1995.
He is spearheading the financing of Monterrey Pictures Entertainment with a slate of several diverse feature film projects, including "700 Hill", "The 88th State", and several upcoming high profile remake projects, including the recently announced remake to The Blob, to be written and directed by Rob Zombie and produced by Richard Saperstein. Mr. Mendez will executive produce The Blob. David started his career at DuPont after earning his engineering degree from Clemson University. After working in several capacities at DuPont in the U. S. and the U. K. , he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to obtain his MBA (he was a Consortium for Graduate Studies in Management full scholarship recipient). His graduate studies included one year of study at the Katholieke Universitiet in Lueven, Belgium.
