In 2017, he signed with Atlético Nacional on loan. On October 14 he had a fight inside the pitch with a teammate, arguing over who should take a free kick. He was fired from the team on October 16, 2018 due to reiterated disciplinary behavior.
On 18 December 2018, Moreno joined Argentine Primera División side Talleres on a two-year deal.
In July 2013, the Ascenso MX side Correcaminos UAT announced that Moreno would join them the upcoming season. However, Moreno then changed his mind and moved to Millonarios Futbol Club after stating that he did not wanted to join a Second Division side.
On 1 February 2012, he rejoined Once Caldas on loan after rejecting offer from Universidad de Chile.
On June 2, 2011, it was announced that Moreno would move to Liga MX team Club Tijuana for a fee of US$3.5 million.
On 24 January 2010, he returned to Once Caldas. In the summer of 2011 he was linked to a transfer to Portugal's Sporting Lisbon, but the deal was canceled after he was offered a lower wage than he requested.
In 2009–10, Dayro was demoted to the B squad. He agreed to play for the second team until he was prepared to come back to the first squad.
In October 2009, following a series of good games for the B squad he was called back to the first team by the new Steaua manager, Stoichiță.
In January 2008, after an outstanding season with Once Caldas, and a good performance against Argentina in the 2010 World Cup South American Qualifiers where he scored the game-winning goal (2–1), he joined Romanian team Steaua București, playing alongside Colombians Róbinson Zapata and Pepe Moreno, who were part of the team at the time.
In the summer of 2007 there were rumors and subsequent offers for Dayro to play in the Croatian league. But after hearing Boca Juniors had interest in him, and demanding too much from the Croatians, the deal was cancelled and in 2007 he resumed play for Caldas.
Dayro Moreno won the Copa Libertadores 2004 with Once Caldas after beating Boca Juniors in the final. That same year he played the Intercontinental Cup final with Once Caldas, who lost the game after a penalty shoot-out against UEFA Champions League winners FC Porto.
