Mr. Asner won a 2017 Voice Arts Award for his performance on the scripted podcast Western "Powder Burns" (Apple Podcasts) in which he plays an aging cowboy battling Alzheimer's disease. The show is the creation of writer/producer David A. Gregory.
His wife's nephew, Gavin Newsom, was elected mayor of San Francisco in 2003, serving as mayor from 2004 until 2011. Was elected Lieutenant Governor of California in 2010, for the term beginning 2011, with the term ending in January 2019.
