Jahangir made his debut for Hertfordshire County Cricket Club in the 1993 MCCA Knockout Trophy against Berkshire. His debut for the county in the Minor Counties Championship came in the same season against Lincolnshire. From 1993 to 1999, he represented the county in 7 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches and from 1993 to 1997, he represented the county in 11 Minor Counties Championship matches. He was selected for the Combined Minor Counties Team in 1995. He made his List A cricket debut for Hertfordshire against Gloucestershire in the 1993 NatWest Trophy and went on to play five List A matches for the county. Jahangir also represented a combined Minor Counties team in a single match against Leicestershire in the 1995 Benson and Hedges Cup.

Kafeel Jahangir attended Aldenham School between 1983-1989 and recorded the highest runs scored in a season, a record that remained for 25 years. His record number of wickets still remain today. In 1988 he was an integral member of the England U17 team, being the leading run scorer in a test and one day series against Sri Lanka U17.
