Timeline
Matthew wrote three novels; Born of Mind, Route 122 and then Into The Dust, before finally approaching Russell Kyle about turning one of them into a film in February 2006.
The two then formed Lens Flare Productions in July 2006 with the purpose of creating films locally in Northern Ireland, with the acting pool of the country.
In December 2006 Matthew wrote, produced and co-directed Life in Extra Time (2007) a short film created as part of an Orange BAFTA competition which garnered Lens Flare Productions a nomination for a BAFTA Short Film Award with fourteen other films.
He officially started 'Pavelware Web and Graphic Design' in September 2005 as a means to further his own interest in working with media and design. It was at this time also that he began seriously writing.
In the same Summer, he also started writing another novel, Another Damn Monday with the idea of emulating Shaun of the Dead (2004)'s style of black comedy.
Matthew Patton was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland to parents Deborah and Alan Pearson, and lives in Randalstown, Northern Ireland. Since a very young age he has been interested in films and film making, although it was around the age of seven when his interest really took hold after sneaking a viewing of James Cameron's Aliens (1986) which belonged to his uncle Adrian. He attended Randalstown Central Primary School, where teaching staff remarked on his enthusiasm for writing stories; and then moved onto Cambridge House Grammar School, where he again furthered his interest in fictional literature. He developed a habit of writing down every little idea in the back of school notebooks, something which distressed the faculty (including the English Department) as it distracted him from the rest of his studies. Eventually he proved their doubts wrong by finishing in the top ten in his year at the school. It was at Cambridge House Grammar School where he became friends with musician, Russell Kyle. The two knew each other from Randalstown Central Primary School, but it was in the Art Department at Cambridge House where the two formed their film making friendship.
