She was also Production Manager on the sci-fi feature Dropa which is in post-production with a pending theatrical release in 2019. She also completed working with SAG-AFTRA talent on a reading of her screenplay Trashman (aka Scherzo) for a Script2Screen reading in Houston, TX.
Also, completed in 2018 was the short sci-fi film produced by Vernon-McKee titled Biomass which is doing well on the festival circuit.
Molly completed a short film titled Abide which won Best Write of Passage Film and Best Actor at the 2017 168 Film Festival in Los Angeles and many other awards during the 2018 film festival circuit.
In 2016 she returned as an adjunct (part-time professor) at The Art Institute - Houston.
The short faith-based film Into The Light; which she wrote and directed for the 168 Film Festival which premiered in Los Angeles in August of 2016 had a fantastic run at film festivals winning multiple awards and will soon be on DirecTV's Short Movie Channel and available on Amazon Prime.
She also co-wrote and was 1st Assistant Director on The Void, which won 1st Place honors (and numerous other awards) at the 2014 Splatterfest Film Competition and produced the short film Red Pearl that won a Jury Award from NASA and the Houston Cinema Arts Society at the 2015 Houston Cinema Arts Festival in Houston, Texas.
Molly Vernon is an award-winning filmmaker with over 65 credits to her name. She works in multiple areas of filmmaking including Producing, Directing, Assistant Directing, Production Management and also as a Writer. Her films have won multiple awards with an international presence both for herself and her creative team. Molly successfully worked professionally as a filmmaker while simultaneously teaching both theatre and film at San Jacinto College District until her retirement from full-time teaching freed her up to work full-time in filmmaking in 2012.
Teaming up with Director of Photography, Larry McKee to create Vernon-McKee Productions, Molly co-wrote and was 1st Assistant Director on the short film Cold War that was selected to screen in 2012 at the Cannes Film Festival as one of the top 10 48HFP's of 2011.
