Protyasha's husband Kazi Abu Bakar Siddiky is a producer in TV and film media. The couple has three daughters. They are Kazi Nusaiba Nawar, Kazi Ayra Alina and Kazi Amelia Ayaat. Protyasha has established a charitable organization, 'Mumtaz Foundation' for helping the orphan, victimized women and disabled people. For her contribution in social welfare, she has been awarded with Certificates of Honor by Aloron Sahitya Shangsad and Human Rights Cultural Society in 2011, and by the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in 2012.

In 2002, Protyasha participated in the 'Lux Anandadhara Miss Bangladesh' competition, and was selected in the Top Ten among 35,000 contestants. Then in 2003 she hosted a Talk show ‘Ajker Shakal’ on NTV. After that she acted in various dramas, and also performed various television commercials. Besides television drama, Protyasha is also connected to Nattya Teertha theatre as an active member. As a member of this theatre, she has performed in various dramas. Mentionable among these are ‘Komola Sunduri’, ‘Hrishi Kabbo’, ‘Kongkal’ based on the story by Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Dwip’ written by Utpal Dutt, and so on.

On the occasion of National Education Week in 1996, Protyasha was judged as the best performer in Instantaneous Acting and Poetry Reciting at Rajshahi City Corporation area. She also secured 3rd place in Instantaneous Acting and Poetry Reciting in the National Education Week ’96 at Rajshahi Divisional Level. Protyasha is an enlisted member of Rajshahi Betar. She performed in various radio dramas, such as 'Gao Geramer Golpo', 'Hutum Pecha', 'Khuku O Kabliwala', 'Horen Soudagar'.

In 1986 at the age of four, Protyasha started her career on stage through poem reciting. From 1990 to 1994 she participated regularly in various events organized by Notun Kuri and Shilpakala Academy in Rajshahi Division. She stands three times as the champion in acting competition arranged by Notun Kuri Rajshahi in 1989, 1990 and 1991.

Mumtaz Alia Akbari (Bengali: মমতাজ আলীয়া আকবরী , born 7 July 1982), commonly known as Protyasha, is a Bangladeshi actress, model and television presenter. She participated in the Lux-Anandadhara Miss Bangladesh competition held on 2002, and secured her position among the Top Ten. Protyasha acted in various drama and drama serials. Mentionable drama serials in which she performed are 'A Team', 'Restaurant 21', 'Agneepath', 'Megher Kheya', 'Run', 'Dur Desh', 'Society', 'Abong Ami', 'Bachelor Dampoti', and one hour dramas 'Dristy Dan', 'Shesher Ratri', 'Suronjana', and so on.

Protyasha was born in Rajshahi on 7 July 1982. Her father Ali Akbar Mirdah was a high school teacher, and also a poet. Her mother Begum Bilkis Banu is a housewife. Protyasha graduated from University of Rajshahi in 2005.
