Timeline
Once Seachtain na Gaeilge was over - Sile moved on to co-present RTE's coverage of the 2005 St. Patricks Day Parade with Ronan Collins, Derek Mooney and Kathryn Thomas. Produced by COCO TV the St. Patricks Day coverage hit a 54.
Sile grew up in Spiddal, Co. Galway. Spiddal is a rural village nestled in the heart of the scenic Connemara Gaeltacht. Raised with both Irish and English Sile is fluent in both and has made notable appearances on both TG4 (the Irish Language TV station) and RTE the Irish State Broadcaster. Born to Philomena and Mairtin Seoige (former Garda) Sile, the youngest in the family, has three siblings, two brothers Eamonn and Cian and her older sister, and Sky news anchor, Grainne. Sile attended Scoil Mhuire at primary level and Colaiste Chroi Mhuire at secondary level - both in Spiddal. Shortly after completing her leaving certificate Sile landed the much sought after job of presenting an Irish language movie program for TG4 (then TnaG), called "Hollywood Anocht". Sile reflects on her first weeks work where she interviewed among others, Harry Connick Junior and Meryl Streep. Over the period she worked on Hollywood Anocht she regularly flew to London for Movie Premieres and celebrity interviews. Her most notable interviews were with the cast of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Director Joel Schumacher, and Hollywood Hunk Bruce Willis. When Hollywood Anocht came to an end Sile returned to her native Galway where she was involved in a pilot for Galway TV called "The Kitchen Sink" - it was witty and irreverent and gave Sile a chance to get out and about with the Galway Public. Then TnaG, approached her to join the station full-time as a weather and continuity presenter. Sile spent two years in this role before taking the anchor position on their kids wrap around programme Cula4. It would appear that her inner child was quick to surface, as Sile adopted the guise of Britney, Shakira and other Pop personalities for the show, and a growing fan base set up a site-following her escapades! After two years of Cula4 Sile decided to take a year-out. She had gone directly from secondary school to working in the TV industry and felt that she needed a little time to travel and open her mind. After spending over seven months travelling around Europe with her boyfriend in a camper van, she returned to Ireland to try her hand at radio presenting. Sile has anchored radio shows on the fledgling Beat 101-102 in the south east and she then moved on to a regular spot with Today FM. The summer of 2004 brought a new challenge for her, RTE were looking for a presenter for their summer festivals series of Nationwide for RTE One. Sile landed the gig and spent the next three months criss-crossing the country visiting festivals from Drumshanbo to the Killarney Summer Fest and the Rose of Tralee!Following quickly on the heels of Nationwide, Sile worked as a reporter on "Up for the Match" and then landed a regular slot on the bi-lingual RTE programme "Seachtain". This news and features format was very different for Sile, but she revelled in the opportunity to get out amongst the public and it gave her a firm footing in production, scripting and media law. While Seachtain was underway Sile was approached to be the face of "Seachtain na Gaeilge" - the yearly national festival that celebrates everything Irish. Coupled with the press launches, photo-shoots and interviews Sile started production on "Coisceim" with Breandan O Gallai(Riverdance fame)- a four part series to run in conjunction with Seachtain na Gaeilge. SnaG-05 the CD, which brought together many of Irelands finest music talent- singing in their native tongue, offered Sile another opportunity - this time The Devlins approached Sile to sing on their track: "Coinleach Glas an Fhomhair".
