He has had leading roles Off-Broadway, in films and television and has worked with actors, directors and writers as diverse as Jack Nicholson, Mike Nichols, James Gandolfini, Peter Falk, Ed Asner, Nilo Cruz, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Gates, Sharon Stone, Jerry Orbach, Renee Zellweger, David Lindsay-Abaire, Morgan Freeman, Bruce Dern, Mark Rydell, Angela Lansbury, Adam McKay, Bill Erwin, John Travolta, Bette Midler, Howard Stern, Chazz Palminteri, Aaron Paul and Tom Selleck. His acting resume includes the films Vice, Speed Kills, Wolf, For the Boys, Bonfire of the Vanities, Malcolm X, Fighting For Freedom, New In Town and Push. On television he had a recurring role on The Sopranos as Tony's accountant Alan Ginsberg and has appeared in over 20 episodes of Bluebloods, Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU, Law and Order CI, Burn Notice, Unforgettable, Becker, Columbo and many others. Theater credits include leading roles Off-Broadway (among them, Tabletop, by Rob Ackerman, at The American Place Theater), Los Angeles and Toronto. The movie is based on the stage play A Piece of My Heart, by Matt Cooper, which Stewart directed at The Odyssey Theater in Los Angeles.
