She also starred in the A24 thriller Under the Silver Lake in 2018. In June 2018, it was announced that Sweeney would be starring alongside Zendaya in the HBO series Euphoria as Cassie Howard. The series premiered on June 16, 2019.
In August 2018, it was announced that Sweeney would be starring in Quentin Tarantino's film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The film was released in the United States on July 26, 2019. For the role, Sweeney studied stories of girls who suffered from mental illness and self-harming, and visited hospitals who had patients who self-harmed. Sweeney filmed Everything Sucks! and Sharp Objects concurrently, filming the former during the week and latter on the weekend.
