Mazomenos has worked as artistic director at the Kalamata Documentary International Film Festival and was also the vice-president of the Greek Film Centre. He has been a member of international juries in film festivals. From 2005 to 2011 he taught film at a well known Art College. Founder and director of Horme Pictures where he is teaching film and producing shorts from 2013. Mazomenos has worked as an author, writing for Film and Art in newspapers and art magazines. He was artistic director of digital and virtual reality applications for Foundation of the Hellenic World. Also it was published in Gavriilides editions three collections of his poems (2003, 2005, 2008).

Mazomenos has been honored twice with a career award. In 2001 at Fantasporto and in 2019 at the Panorama of European Cinema in Athens. Also he has been multi nominated for the Hellenic Film Academy Greek awards (2010, 2013, 2018). He was nominated for the European Fantasy Award in 1999 for his film Money, A Mythology of Darkness and won the same year the jury's special award in Fantasporto for the same film. He was three times awarded in Thessaloniki International Film Festival for his films The Triumph of Time (1996), Money, A Mythology of Darkness (1998) and Remembrance (2002). He has been also multi awarded in London Greek Film Festival (2012, 2013, 2017, 2020) for his films Guilt 10th day Lines (film) Exile (2019 film). He won twice the Jury's Special Award at the Panorama of European Cinema for his features 10th day and Exile (2019 film). He won also the Special award in Cyprus International Film Festival (Cyprus) for 10th day and for the same film was also nominee for Best director (Tarkovsky Award) in the Blow-Up Chicago International Arthouse Film Fest. For Lines (film) was nominee for best director (Tarkovsky Award) and best writing (Tonino Guerra Award) in 2017 BLOW-UP · International Arthouse FILM FEST in Chicago. For Lines (film) also he was awarded as best director and nominated for best picture and best script in Maverick Movie Awards. In 2017 he won in theAccolade Global Film Competition Award the Award of Merit and in 2018 he won the best director's award at South East European Film Festival in Berlin & Paris , best feature at Helsinki in Scandinavian International Film Festival for Lines (film). Lines (film) also won in 2018 best feature at Prisma independent film awards in Rome and best script, best camera at Sose international film festival in Yerevan Armenia. Vassilis Mazomenos (Greek: Βασίλης Μαζωμένος ; born 1964, Athens) is a producer, screenwriter, director, member of both the European Film Academy and the Greek Hellenic Film Academy He is also a production designer Producer of more than 35 short films and a poet Mazomenos is one of the first Greek directors to exploit the potential of new technologies in the difficult task of renewing the filmic language Considered the most "special" than all Greek film makers of his generation, known for his visual and artistic experimentation and his influences from the early German expressionism.

Mazomenos studied political science at the University of Athens. He is the son of the fighter of the National Resistance Mimis Mazomenos. His grandmother's first cousin was Alexandros Papanastasiou, the first president of the Greek Republic in 1924. His grandfather Vasilios, was an immigrant in the United States, where most of his relatives live.
