He held the WBC super-featherweight title in 2010 (having held the interim title from 2009 to 2010) and the European Union title in 2008. As an amateur, he won a silver medal at the 2003 World Championships, a gold medal at the 2004 European Championships, and a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics, all in the featherweight division.
